How to Get to Nui Beach?
Nui Beach is off the beaten track. Away from the hustle and bustle of Patong Beach and Phuket Town.
This hidden gem is one to travel for. Located not far from Kata Beach in-between kata and Rawai. You will come across a dirt road with small sign postings for Nui Beach. There is parking for your motorbike and from there you can walk down to Nui Beach.
Alternatively, if walking isn’t your thing there are shuttle taxis which will take you up and down the dirt track to the Beach.
*Bare in mind, this option is not for the fainthearted.
We arrived at the beach at 8am as we wanted a full day there and the photo spots to ourselves- more on this later. The shuttle taxis weren’t running this early so we walked down. Make sure you are wearing sensible footwear and take lots of water. The walk roughly took about 20 minutes and was a steep dirt track, but easy to navigate.
We did however take the shuttle taxi back up for 100 Baht per person. This was really iffy, the truck could barely fit on the road and struggled over the bumps and potholes. But the Thai driver confidently off-road drove us up the dirt track hill. I mean who isn’t up for a bit of adventure right!
Once you get to the bottom of the hill you will arrive directly at Nui Beach.
How Much Does is Cost?
As we mentioned above, if you opted for the shuttle bus it is 100 Baht per person or 150 Baht per person return. We would recommend getting the truck back up because it is a steep walk.
Then you will need to pay the entrance fee to enter the beach. The beach is private and run by locals and an entrance fee of 100 Baht is to be paid to go towards maintenance, wages etc.
We decided to rent sunbeds for the day right at the water’s edge and a parasol for some shade. That cost us a total of 250 Baht for 2 sunbeds and a parasol for the whole day.
The beach has one main restaurant and bar. We spent around 500 Baht the whole day getting food and drinks. The pad Thai and mango sticky rice is very good. We spent the afternoon sipping on coconuts and basking on our sun loungers.
What to Expect at Nui Beach
Nui beach is a secret to most tourists but in recent years has become more of a tourist destination.
Many people are put off by the extra step needed to take to access the beach. By driving and then taking a taxi – but trust us it’s worth it!
Nui Beach itself is a white, sandy cove surrounded by rocks. You really feel secluded like you have your own private beach.
The water is clear and great for snorkelling. They have an onsite snorkelling and diving shack you can pay to rent snorkelling or diving equipment for the day.
But, what really makes this beach so unique and quirky is the photo spots. They have created Instagram worthy chairs, swings, nests and even a bathtub to relax and take photos. We LOVED this.
We swung on the swings, relaxed in hammocks reading our books and took some fun photos in the bathtub sipping on a cocktail. The Beach is the main attraction but the photo spots add that extra bit of fun and charm.
In Conclusion...
The best time to visit is in the morning, there are less crowds and you will have the beach all to yourself.
Ensure to take cash for the transfers and entrance fee.
Take lots of water and snacks with you as you may have to walk up and down the hill to the beach.
Bring your camera and take some cool shots on the photo spots.
When we visited there was a monkey at the entrance that was chained up. DO NOT pay them to feed or pet this monkey.
Make sure you take the extra effort and time to make it to Nui Beach on your next visit to Phuket. It really is an amazing secret spot.
